With Cape Town joining cities like New York, Monaco and
London, as one of the most popular cities in the world,
you will not be surprised the city offers you a wide variety
of accommodation.
Where to stay in Cape Town
Deciding on where to stay is choosing from one of the many
diverse environments in Cape Town. You can stay close to
the restaurants and nightlife,
have a view of one of the beautiful
beaches, table
mountain, lion’s head or the vineyards,
to name but a few.
In the City Bowl, Budget
hotels, backpackers,
B&B's
and boutique
hotels spread out from the centre onto the slopes of
Table Mountain. There you'll find quiet suburban areas like
Oranjezicht, Tamboerskloof
and trendy Gardens.
On the Atlantic seabord, the scenery changes every five
hundred meters with the trendy and gay Green
Point , luxurious hotels
in the Waterfront,
to the upmarket beach life of Bantry Bay, Clifton, Camps
Bay.
Just south west of Cape Town on the Atlantic, the quiet
bay of Llandudno and the ‘republic’ of Hout
Bay you’ll find good accommodation as well, often
with stunning views of the sea or mountains. On the other
side of the mountain Constantia offers accommodation near
the oldest winelands in
Cape Town.
Where to stay in the Surroundings of Cape Town
The Cape Peninsula, south of Cape Town, offers quaint villages
and a "green" environment to stay for a few days
to experience birdlife and walks along the coast, to surf
or to enjoy the silence.
When feeling like feasting on wine and some good food, the
Winelands of the Western Cape, you may want to spend the
night there as well. Opt for a stay at one of the B&B’s,
a self
catering cottages on one of the Wine-estates. When the
sun rises the next morning, the sky, the view of the vineyards,
the valley and the impressive mountains makes you feel like
waking up in your own estate.
When to book
Tourism in Cape Town reaches a peak from the middle of December
to the middle of January, during the school holidays. Wise
to book far in advance.
The general season is from November to March, even though
there is usually always accommodation available.
