We can give you over a hundred reasons to come to Cape Town.
In this city all contrasts easily combine. This city boasts
multi cultural society, natural beauty, architecture and
and diverse religions. Besides that Cape Town has the townships
on the bleak expanse that is the Cape Flats and the impressive
wealthy beach houses on the coast. Cape Town is definitely
one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The image
of the mountains and the sea will linger in your mind once
you visited the ‘Mother City’ of South Africa.
Dominated by a 1000m flat-topped mountain
with virtually sheer cliffs, it’s surrounded by mountains,
vineyards and beaches. In every cosmopolitan city in the
world you should visit at least a few of the highlights,
in Cape Town though these highlights are too many to choose
from.
Maybe it is not a good idea to do it
the day you fly in, but climbing
Table Mountain or going up by the cable
car is one of the trips you cannot skip. The views from
Table Mountain are phenomenal and there are some excellent
walks on the top.
To judge the best wines yourself from
the Western Capes’ vineyards you can take a trip to
the beautiful Winelands
in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Wellington or Paarl. Stay
in one of the beautifully decorated cottages, guesthouses
and hotels
in Cape countryside.
To get to know where the leaders of
the black resistance (ANC), in particular Neslon Mandela
spent their years in prison during the apartheid, visit
Robben Island.
The Island, not far off the mainland, is one of the most
important historical sites in South Africa.
Fill a basket with food and wine, grab
a blanket and go for a nice walk and picnic to one of the
most beautiful gardens in the world. A definite must- see
for every visitor. Kirstenbosch
Botanic Gardens have the unique species that can only
be found in the Cape. About 10 000 of southern Africa’s
22 000 plant species are grown in the gardens.
The oldest and arguably the most interesting
museum of South Africa is the South
Africa Museum at the top end of the Company’s
Gardens. Interesting exhibits of the San Communities and
other indigenous cultures are shown as well as the indirect
testimony to Cape Town’s importance as a stopping
place for ships.
The
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is one of the biggest
and for certain most tourist-friendly shopping malls in
Cape Town. Besides the 400 shops, the mall packed with restaurants,
bars, music venues and tourist attractions.
