South Africa aims to
become an export driven economy that can compete on the
world stage. The following text out of ‘South Africa,
The Good News’ gives an insight into the economy that
this country is trying to build.
‘Openness is economic democracy. It has been
proven, the world over, that globally-integrated economies
grow much faster than non-integrated ones. The sudden opening
up of the SA economy has resulted in dramatic changes in
the span of 10 short years and this has rubbed off on the
exchange rate of the rand, currently trying to establish
its true natural value in world markets.
Coming from an era of debt moratoriums, sanctions,
two exchange rates, travel restrictions and a policy of
inward industrialisation, we have transformed quickly to
an economy embracing the global market.’
Slowly, South Africa is entering the global market. Besides
that, the Black Empowerment Programme provides the integration
of black South Africans into the formal economy.
South Africa has taken a moral stance on many of the issues
affecting the world today-fighting for equality on a national
and international level. Read about the latest developments…..
