South Africa is after
ten years democracy is still struggling for equality and
respect for every citizen.
With South Africa's history, this struggle could not been
fought and defeated in ten years. Many non-profit organisations,
social programmes, government initiatives are trying to
take care for the growth and welfare of disadvantaged groups.
My initial period in Cape Town saw me writing a report
for the local newspaper on a sports day for abused women
who lived in shelters.
The non-profit organisation St.
Anna Homes organised this sports day for 9 different
shelters in Cape Town. The women were so excited, enthusiastic
and grateful that they could enjoy a day outside the confines
of the shelter. I was deeply touched to see joy expressed
on their faces of these women had been abused by the partnersd
for years. The strength and courage they have to continue
their lives after years of abuse is both impressive and
inspirational.
