The Western Cape has a provincial legislature, like all
the national parliament representatives are elected on proportional
representation, the largest party usually running the provincial
government.
The New Premier of the province is Ebrahim Rasool.
Current issues for both the local and provincial government
are housing, poverty alleviation and the fight against crime.
The government, on both levels, have had success with providing
housing for those who had previously lived in shacks through
a government grant.
The main focuses for this government, on local and national
level, is providing services like healthcare and education
to its constituency.
