The city is built around Devil’s Peak, Table Mountain,
Lions Head and Signal Hill. These mountains are situated
around the City Bowl as a horseshoe. The oldest parts of
Cape Town, which are built on the slopes of the mountains,
surround the inner city: the Bo
Kaap and the upmarket Waterkant,
Tamboerskloof, Gardens,
Oranjezicht and Vredehoek.
In the heart of the citybowl
lies the economic and business-centre of Cape Town. Huge
office builidings from major South African companies dominate
the skyline.
